What is a poster?

A poster is a way of communicating your research through a visual medium. It’s an opportunity to present your research in a clear, concise and creative manner.

Research scientists use posters to inform the public and to promote their research at conferences.

Remember that your poster is advertising the highlights of your research. Some researchers try to cram a whole scientific paper’s worth of material onto an A0 sheet of paper. This just leads to a cramped, text-heavy poster that people will avoid.

The following module will give you some guidelines for designing effective posters that people will want to read. Work through the module sequentially or use the navigation panel on the left to jump to the section of interest.
